CLEVELAND INDIANS:
I know I am from Cleveland and all and have sat in below zero temperatures to watch football and very cold temperatures to watch baseball, once again this speaks to the need for a retractable domed stadium for baseball in Cleveland.
Conditions last night were terrible for a Memorial Day weekend home game. Unfortunately, when the conditions are added to the likely omnipresent nerves that a first-time major leaguer Morgan would have plus the fact that he had a very shortened run-up (lack of ST and only one long start in AAA) to his debut, it is hard to make anything out of this start. I think he deserves another start but don't EXPECT much better as I think a guy like him cannot learn well at the big league level. He has to be very refined to make his stuff work against ML hitters and he still has some work to do.
Nevertheless, as Tito said, how do you make sense of his start last night given the conditions.
Regarding the game, we all knew there would be days like this this year. When 2/5 of your rotation has little or no ML experience, no matter who you throw out there from the minors or majors, you are going to have hiccups. I don't know if anyone is reading more into this than they should, but if they are, don't worry. Last night's game does not damage this team's psyche or its chances of making the playoffs.
INDIANS MINOR LEAGUE TEAMS
As I posted earlier, our minor league system is looking terrible at the moment. Almost every minor leaguer, including the ones we really need right now, is underperforming.
You have to have on deeply rose-colored glasses to find good things happening right now with the Indians' minor league teams. When we are encouraged when a guy like Tanner Burns gives up only 2 runs (one earned) in five innings in A ball, it really says we are setting the bar low.
I don't know what is up but color me whatever color is opposite of rose-colored. Since Eeyore is a combination of purple and blue, color me Eeyore-colored.
