The Trade: Latest Thoughts

As fans look for ways to run their latest whipping boys, Myles Straw, Amed Rosario and Mike Zunino out of town, I have been following the LA Dodgers prospects who I proposed to trade for.  Here is the latest update to the trade proposal.

Cleveland trades: Myles Straw, Amed Rosario, Shane Beiber, Zach Plesac and Eli Morgan

LA trades: Michael Busch, Bobby Miller and Chris Taylor

While Miller has made himself almost untouchable by his first 3 starts in the majors, this package might entice the Dodgers.  Us taking back Chris Taylor's bad salary is, to me, a key to this deal as it offsets most of any additional luxury tax LA would have to take on now and in the next two years.  The enticement for the Guardians is that they are essentially buying Miller for an increase in their salary budget over the next two years while saving a little money on that budget this year, maybe for a deadline rental.

Maybe this doesn't work.  Maybe, as I do a lot, just pipedreaming to make my team better both by subtraction and addition.   Maybe LA sees the same deficits in our players that we see and would laugh at this offer.

I don't know, but that is what blogs like this are, at least partly, about.  Making proposals that will, hopefully, help the Guardians now and in the future.
